Building Civic Capacity Across the Bay Area

BAMC exists to put civic-minded Muslims where decisions get made: on local boards, in commissions, and in conversation with the officials who shape affordability, public safety, housing, healthcare, and education. This page shows what we’ve built so far.

Our North Star

THE ROAD TO 1,000

Muslims serving on boards, commissions, and councils across the Bay Area.

TODAY: 80+ (INCLUDING ELECTEDS) + 14 (BAMC)

What We Have Accomplished:

2,480+ community members reached

55 members across 10 hyperlocal chapters

14 community members on commissions and local leadership roles this year

3 civic software projects built to support our work

Along the way, we held multiple listening sessions that trained community members on civic engagement and how local government works. Masjids across the Bay Area now feature voter registration on their websites, so signing up to vote is one click away from the places people already gather.
